August 28, 2005Youth Soccer Month

DATE: Now! - Monday, September 19
Update! Due to the interest in the "Why I Play" writing contest, the deadline to submit writing entries has been extended from Friday 9/16 to Monday 9/19. Time is running out so get your entries in!

SHOW YOUR SKILLS IN THE "WHY I PLAY" WRITING CONTEST

Do you have a story to share or a poem to write that expresses why you love to play the game? If so, now is your chance to shine! We challenge every player to write what soccer means to you and creatively express "why I play."

From poems to essays, the young athlete whose writing best captures their experience with the four pillars of Youth Soccer Month: Fitness, Fun, Family, and Friends, will be honored with an award at the September 24 Real Salt Lake Game!

There will be one winner for each age group ages U-5 through U-18. The contest is held in conjunction with Get a Kick Out of Reading. And as added incentive, Brian Dunseth, RSL Defender and Get a Kick Out of Reading spokesperson, is our honorary judge for the contest, so send in your best!

RULES:

  • Any and all types of creative writing are accepted
  • Word Limit: 200 words
  • All entries must be received by Monday, September 19

Please note that we will receive a large amount of entries; so be sure to include the following information so we can credit your work!
