Utah Youth Soccer to Host Spanish-Language Referee Course
The Utah Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce that it will host a referee certification course that will be conducted in Spanish. The class, which will be held at the State Office of the Utah Youth Soccer Association, is slated to begin the evening of January 28th. The course will continue January 29th and February 12th. "The Utah Youth Soccer Association is dedicated to serving the entire soccer community," said President Paul C. Burke. "This clinic shows our organization's commitment to reach out to the growing number of Utahns for whom Spanish is their first language. Soccer unites the world, and we hope that soccer can help to unite our increasingly diverse community." The Spanish language referee certification course will be taught by National-Grade Referee Carlos Palomino, who doubles as Utah's Director of Referee Assessment. Palomino has officiated at the international level. His career highlight may have come in the U.S. v. Ireland women's match on June 14, 2003. As a lineman, Palomino held up the flag that led to an American goal being called back. It was, of course, the right call. |
