UYSA and Impact Lose Great Friend

Youth soccer in Utah has tragically suffered the loss of a piece of its ‘heart and soul.’ Thomas “Scott” Davis, the Competition Director for Impact United Soccer Club, a dear friend of the game, and a wonderfully kind and generous man suffered a debilitating stroke and has succumbed to the damaged caused. For those who knew Scott and his tireless contributions to local soccer, this is a huge loss. For those who were not fortunate enough to know him personally, Scott was one of the founders and a mainstay in the Impact United competition club. He more recently was instrumental in the joining together of the Highland and other recreational soccer leagues into what is Impact Recreation Soccer today. Each year, more than 3000 girls and boys play soccer within the framework that Scott helped to provide. As a leader, as a contributor, and as a person, Scott will be impossible to replace. We are all fortunate to be the beneficiaries of his years of hard work.

Scott required a prolonged stay in the critical care section of the hospital. He leaves behind a loving wife and a son who just started college. Scott fortunately had just returned from traveling to Pennsylvania where he got to watch his son play the game he loved so much, soccer. The financial costs for Scott’s family to find closure in all this will be great. As a community of people who have benefited in so many ways from Scott’s hard work, we as players, parents, coaches, family and friends have an opportunity to step up and do our part. Scott never took anything for his efforts. He was the consummate volunteer. We owe him a debt of gratitude. What finer way to show our love and appreciation than by helping to support his family in their loss and in their time of extraordinary need.
