Fiji Men's National Team Arrives in Utah The Fiji Men's National Coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti will be meeting with UYSA President Scott Maxfield and State Technical Director Greg Maas to discuss a partnership with UYSA involving coaching exchanges and youth player exchanges with the Fiji Football Association. Coach Buzzetti has brought the Fiji Men's National Team to the United States in preparation for the upcoming South Pacific Games (Oceania's World Cup Qualifier). The Fiji Men's National Team will arrive in Utah April 12th to finish out its last leg of the Tour and will play BYU (April 13, 7:00pm) and Real Salt Lake (April 18, 7:30pm). Coach Buzzetti chose Utah due to a friendship with Utah Spiders General Manager Mark Drown, who arranged the 2007 Fiji Friendship Tour. Salt Lake based Paleo-Technology International, is the corporate sponsor of the Utah Spiders and allocated resources to support the Fiji MNT Tour. "When I was discussing with Mark Fiji's intent to go to Thailand and Malaysia for matches to prepare us for the South Pacific Cup, he insisted that coming to California and Utah would be a better fit for the Fiji MNT development," stated Coach Buzzetti. "This Tour has been fantastic for us. The American teams are very good. The different playing surfaces, temperatures, and altitude have forced my players to adjust both tactically and mentally" he continued. Fiji is a destination resort country located in the South Pacific en-route to Australia and New Zealand. |
