I am running for the office of Vice President for UYSA. I feel strongly about the positive influence soccer can have on the youth in our state. I am uniquely qualified to help bring together the Hispanic/Latino community and Utah Youth Soccer. I am excited for this potential opportunity and look forward to the continued progress of UYSA. Bio:
Sandra Plazas, originally from Colombia, has lived in Utah for the last 17 years. She is a member of the Utah Society of Professional Journalist and the editor/partner of Mundo Hispano Newspaper, the largest Hispanic/Latino print media in Utah, being an integral player in its growth.

She is also the Vice President of Hispanic Marketing & Consulting where she plays a key role in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans tailored specifically for the Hispanic/Latino population. She is a consultant for various corporate and retail service industries helping them to convey appropriate advertising messages within the Hispanic/Latino community.

Sandra has been very involved with the Hispanic community since the launching of the newspaper in 1993, serving in different boards and commissions including the Hogle Zoo community advisory board and Commission on Child Business Care. She has also been part of the Hispanic Legislative Taskforce.

Plazas has a passion for soccer, she grew up playing soccer for her school team at her home country when soccer was not yet considered a ladies sport. She strongly supports the Hispanic youth and in 2001 she created "SLY-Mundo Hispano", the first 100% Hispanic/Latino soccer team to play in the Utah Youth Soccer Association Competitive League. She is a certified referee, and she holds a D license.
