Utah Soccer Community Mourns Referee
Veteran Official Rob Edgar Passed Away August 8th

The Utah soccer community was saddened by the news that Rob Edgar died on August 8, 2004. Edgar, a long-time official, ranked as one of the state's most dedicated and charismatic referees. Edgar is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jennifer, and their four sons, Gabriel, Isaac, Benjamin (a referee himself), and Franklin.

UYSA President Paul C. Burke expressed his condolences to the Edgar family. He also offered thanks to the Edgar family for having shared Rob with the soccer community. "Rob approached every match with enthusiasm and he poured his heart into serving the game and its players," Burke said. "No referee's calls are beyond question, but Rob's integrity and effort were always beyond reproach."

"The sound of Rob's whistle will be missed on Utah's soccer fields," Burke said. "But his spirit of service will remain with us."

A wake has been scheduled for Edgar on Friday, August 13 from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Spectrum Studio, 196 W. Malvern Avenue (2695 S) in Salt Lake City. You are also invited to pay tribute to Edgar by signing the guest book at the following website:
