State Competition League Schedule Released For Fall 2003 Season
Schedules for the fall season of the State Competition League are now available through the State Competition League section of this website. Field listings as well as directions to every field can also be obtained on this site. After the season begins, official standings for the State Competition League will be maintained and updated on a regular basis.
The fall season kicks off for most teams on Saturday, August 23rd. The earlier start became necessary to accommodate the size of certain divisions, State Cup, Mayor's Cup, and President's Cup tournament play.
The State Competition League, which is administered by the Utah Youth Soccer Association, offers the highest level of competition league soccer for youth soccer teams in Utah. Utah's top club programs participate in the State Competition League. More than 450 teams, hailing from as far north as Logan and as far south as Delta, have been organized into divisions for league competition based on gender, age, and competitive strength. More than 7,000 players will compete in almost 5,000 matches this fall. There are players in the State Competition League from St. George as well as Logan. Perhaps no other league in the country matches Utah's State Competition League for its geographic and competitive reach.
The release of the Fall 2003 League Schedules comes, for most teams, just a few days before the start of play. Scott Harward, Utah Youth Soccer Association's Executive Director, congratulated the office staff and, especially, Programs Manager Leisa Vineyard for completing this immense project despite an extraordinary number of challenges and complications. Said Harward: "Obviously we would have loved to have had the schedules completed earlier. Our top priority is to meet the needs of the association. We released preliminary dates of competition for each age group and division as early as possible to help our members plan for the season, but it was impossible to finalize the schedule any earlier due to the challenges of registration, alignment, and field availability."
