Utahns Called to National Team Duty

Stephanie Ebner of Taylorsville, Utah and Marco Angelo of Draper, Utah have been called back to National Team duty with the U.S Women's National Under-21 team and the U.S. Men's National Under-15 team respectively. Ebner and Angelo are products of the Utah Youth Soccer Association's Olympic Development Program and club teams affiliated with UYSA. Ebner was previously a member of the U-19 World Cup Championship team, becoming the first Utahn to win a World Cup at any level.

U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team Head Coach Chris Petrucelli will begin his second year at the helm of the USA's oldest youth national team with a 25-player training camp at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from Jan. 23-Feb. 1. The U-21s are working towards the 2004 Nordic Cup, the top competition in the world for U-21 women, to be held this summer in Iceland. The roster also includes five players from the USA's 2002 Under-19 World Championship team in Keeley Dowling, Stephanie Ebner, Sarah Huffman, Jill Oakes and Manya Makoski, as well as the only player in the current U.S. Women's National Team pools from Hawaii, Natasha Kai from the University of Hawaii, who scored 29 goals for the Rainbow Wahines last season.

The U.S. Under-15 Men's National Team arrived in Guadalajara, Mexico, this weekend as it gets set for a 7-day tour where the 34-player roster will be divided into two teams that each play three games. Each team will play Chivas and Tecos, plus a team still to be determined. Head coaches Manfred Schellschiedt and Ken Lolla have brought a roster filled with players mainly born in 1989.
