Aleisha Rose to Speak at Annual Awards Banquet

Aleisha Rose, the most decorated athelete to ever play for BYU Soccer, will speak to Utah Youth Soccer Association administrators, special guests at the Annual Awards Banquet, being held Friday, January 30, 2004 at 7:00 PM. The Awards Banquet will be held in conjunction with Utah Youth Soccer Association's Annual General Meeting in the Red Lion Hotel, located at 161 W. 600 S., Salt Lake City.

Rose out of Lakewood, Colorado, came to BYU as one of the most highly touted prep stars in the country as the 1999 High School Player of the Year. She played on the United States Women's National Team with the likes of Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy at the age of 16. Since joining the Cougars, Rose has established herself as one of the most dominant players in the college game. Her former coach on the US National Team, April Heinrich, once said, "Rose is the most impactful player in women's college soccer today, she changed the game. That's about as good a compliment as you'll get from me without calling her the next Michael Jordan." A four-time All-American, Rose was a two-time candidate for soccer's highest honor, the Hermann Trophy. Over her career she has accumulated accolades and honors that include the ESPN/Soccer Times Freshman of the Year, the MWC Freshman of the Year, the 2001 Chevy Young Female Athlete of the Year, the 2001 MWC Player of the Year, a three-time All-West Region selection, three-time All-MWC first-team, MWC All-Tournament Team, the Kentucky Invitational All-Tournament Team and several MWC Player of the Week, Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and Soccer America Team of the Week honors throughout her career.
