ODP Region IV Camp Update #2

The second week of ODP Region IV Camp just finished for the ‘89 boys, the ‘90 girls, and the ’89 girl’s camp came to a close on Friday, July 9th. The ‘89 boys finished camp with the second best record at 4-1 with wins over New Mexico, Alaska, Idaho and Hawaii, and their only blemish was a loss to Arizona. The ’90 girls finished camp 2-1-1 with wins over New Mexico and Hawaii, tied Colorado, and then lost a battle to Cal South. The ’89 girls finished camp 2-2 with wins over Arizona and Alaska, and losses to Oregon and the ’90 Region IV Pool Team.

The ’89 boys had two players selected to the ODP Region IV Pool: Marco Angelo and Jesse (Tyson) Kupfer. The ’90 girls raised the bar this week with three players selected to the ODP Region IV Pool: McKinzie Olsen, Niki Fernandes and LaChere Anglin. The ’89 girls matched the ’90 girls with three players selected to the ODP Region IV Pool: Megan Ohai, Jesse Baddley and Hailee DeYoung.

To date, Utah Youth Soccer has had 12 players selected to participate in the ODP Region IV Pool’s and 2 players selected to participate in the boys ’91 US National Team Pool. The 14 players recognized this year has surpassed the record of 13 set in 2003 – with the ’88 and ’87 boys and girl’s teams still to go. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and administrative staff for a job well done!

The ‘88 teams arrive to their respective camps this week and we wish them continued success in their play.
