No Guzzle-Gate at UYSA
Burke Reimburses Association for Future Travel Detour

Later this month, UYSA President Paul C. Burke is scheduled to represent the Utah Youth Soccer Association at the Annual General Meeting of the US Youth Soccer Association. The meeting will be held in Orlando, Florida on July 24th. Burke will leave for Florida on July 23rd, but will travel through Iowa on the return trip so that he can attend a family celebration in Des Moines. Burke will return to Salt Lake on July 25th.

The detour through Iowa required the purchase of several one-way segments, which cumulatively are more expensive than a round-trip ticket between Orlando and Salt Lake City. As a result, Burke has reimbursed the Association for $438.50, the difference in price between the cheapest available round-trip ticket between Salt Lake and Orlando and the series of one-way journeys. Executive Director Scott Harward confirmed that the Association has received this advance payment from Burke.

"It is important for members of the Association to know that their money is precious," said Burke. "This trip will cost me more personally due to the convergence of my soccer and family commitments, but it will not cost the Association a penny more than necessary. It will again be my privilege to represent the youth players and coaches of our state at this important convention."

The Annual General Meeting of the US Youth Soccer Association is expected to consider reforms addressing registration, transfers, and travel policies. To review the proposals, please visit www.usyouthsoccer.org.
