The Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA) announced today that eight Utah teams have advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships. U12 Boys--Advantage (Layton), U14 Boys--Nighthawks (Sandy), U15 Boys--Sparta (Sandy), U16 Boys--Inter FC (Orem), U14 Girls--Avalanche (Sandy), U18 Girls--Inter FC (Sandy), U19 Girls--Celtic Storm (Orem), and U19 Boys-Team Utah (Salt Lake) have emerged from the preliminary round and have qualified for the single-elimination portion of the tournament. Quarterfinal matches will be played on Thursday with Semifinal matches to follow on Friday, June 25. The US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Champions will then be crowned after the finals on Saturday, June 26. The Region IV Champions earn a berth to the 2004 US Youth Soccer National Championships, which will be contested between July 20-25 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida at the Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. Eighteen teams from Utah qualified for the Far West Regional Championships by winning the Utah Youth Soccer State Cup Tournament. More than 240 top boys and girls teams from 14 states earned the right to challenge for the Regional title at the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships in Spokane, Washington. The other state associations represented at the tournament are Alaska, Arizona, California-North, California-South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming.
