U.S. and Irish Women's Soccer Teams to Prepare on Utah Campus
Open Practices to be Held at Ute Soccer Field
The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will face Ireland in Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. It will mark the first-ever appearance in the state of Utah by the U.S. National Team.
The U.S. will prepare for the match with Ireland by practicing at both Ute Soccer Field and Rice-Eccles Stadium during the week of the competition. The practices on Ute Soccer Field, which will be open to the public, will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 10-11. Tuesday's practice will start at 1 p.m. and Wednesday's at 10 a.m. No admission will be charged. Practices in Rice-Eccles Stadium on June 12-13 will be closed to the public.
Twenty-three players will represent the U.S. in the upcoming match with most of them arriving in Salt Lake City on Monday, June 9. Seven players, including Mia Hamm, will not arrive until Thursday, June 12, as they have games with their Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) professional teams on Wednesday.
The Irish National Team will also be in town for training before the games. Their practice schedule has yet to be announced.
Tickets ranging in price levels from $16 to $37 are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com by phone at 801-325-SEAT (7328), at all Ticketmaster outlets (including Fred Meyer and Graywhale CD Exchange) and at the Rice-Eccles Stadium Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
