Spring Competition League Schedule Released
Dated March 17
Schedules for the spring season of the State Competition League are now
available through the State Competition League section of this website.
Field listings as well as directions to every field can also be obtained on
this site. After the season begins, official standings for the State
Competition League will be maintained and updated on a regular basis.
The spring season kicks off for most teams on Saturday, March 29th. There
are, however, a few divisions whose play begins on Saturday, March 22nd. In
these exceptional cases, the earlier start became necessary to accommodate
either the size of the division or State Cup tournament play.
The State Competition League, which is administered by the Utah Youth Soccer
Association, offers the highest level of competition league soccer for youth
soccer teams in Utah. Utah's top club programs participate in the State
Competition League. More than 450 teams, hailing from as far north as Logan
and as far south as Delta, have been organized into divisions for league
competition based on gender, age, and competitive strength. More than 7,000
players will compete in almost 5,000 matches this spring. There are players
in the State Competition League from St. George as well as Logan. Perhaps
no other league in the country matches Utah's State Competition League for
its geographic and competitive reach.
The release of the Spring 2002 League Schedules comes, for most teams,
almost two weeks before the start of play. Scott Harward, Utah Youth Soccer
Association's Office Manager, praised the office staff and, especially,
Programs Manager Leisa Vineyard for completing this immense project so
quickly. Said Harward: "Leisa has done a great job producing these
schedules in a timely manner, despite an extraordinary number of challenges
and complications."
President Paul C. Burke offered congratulations and praise to Harward,
Vineyard, and the entire office staff for providing this prompt service to
the State Competition League. Burke also credited Vineyard with hitting the
ground running after she officially joined UYSA's staff only two weeks ago,
on March 4, 2003. "There's no doubt that Leisa was thrown immediately into
the fire," Burke said, "but she conquered the stress and complications to
get the job done."
