Tom Borrowman Bows Out As Treasurer

Treasurer Tom Borrowman announced his resignation at the conclusion of the meeting of the Board of Directors on March 18, 2003. Borrowman cited family obligations as the reason for his departure. Borrowman's resignation came after more than three years of service as the Association's Treasurer. He was first elected to the post in 2001 and was re-elected by acclamation in January 2003.

"I accepted Tom's resignation with great appreciation for his dedicated service," said President Paul C. Burke. "I know that Tom has sacrificed an enormous amount of time from his family in order to help the Association."

Burke encouraged members of the soccer community to express their gratitude to Borrowman for his administrative work on behalf of the organization. "During the last year, I have asked more from Tom, and he has delivered," Burke continued. "Tom has worked closely with Executive Director Scott Harward, the Board of Directors, the Audit Committee, and the Association's auditors to help turn around the state of the Association's finances. He has also been instrumental in instilling greater financial discipline on the Association's operations by implementing measures to improve the organization's internal controls."

Borrowman has agreed to assist with the transition to a new Treasurer. He plans to continue monitoring the Association's finances until his replacement is appointed.
