UTAH SPIDERS SCHEDULED TO PLAY ON MEMORIAL DAY AT STATE CUP FINALS
The Utah Spiders and Utah Youth Soccer Association announced today that the Utah Spiders will face California Pride on Monday, May 31, 2004, on field "J" of the West Jordan Soccer Complex at 4000 West 7800 South, West Jordan, Utah. The match, which will kick off at 3:00 PM, is being played in conjunction with the Utah State Cup Tournament Finals.
The Utah State Cup Tournament is Utah's premier youth tournament with over 160 teams consisting of boys and girls ranging in age from 11 years old to 18 years old. Tournament quarter, semi-final, and final round matches will be played Friday, May 28th, Saturday 29th, and May 31st, respectively. Champions of each age group will go on to compete in US Youth Soccer's Far West Regional Tournament in Spokane, Washington, between June 21st through June 26th, 2004.
The Utah Youth Soccer Association is the largest youth soccer organization in Utah. The Association and its affiliates operate recreation soccer programs across the state. The Utah Youth Soccer Association also manages the State Competition League, home to the highest level youth soccer competition in Utah. The Association is an affiliate of US Youth Soccer and it has been recognized as the governing body for youth soccer in Utah. The mission of the Utah Youth Soccer Association is to offer soccer opportunities to youth players of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. The Utah Spiders are the defending National Champions of the Women's Professional Soccer League. With the suspension of the WUSA, the WPSL has become the top women's soccer league in the United States. Many players from the U.S. Women's National Team are expected to make appearances in Utah to play against the Spiders.
