May 31, 2004 League 26 Elections Set for Wednesday, June 2nd League 26 of the Utah Youth Soccer Association will hold elections for its League Board on Wednesday, June 2nd. League 26, which serves Northern Utah County including the Alpine, American Fork, Highland, and Lehi areas, will conduct elections during a meeting set to begin at 7:00 at Alpine City Hall. Alpine City Hall is located at 20 N. Main Street in Alpine, Utah. For a map to Alpine City Hall, please click here. The League Board, including the League President, will be chosen in elections during this meeting. At the May 20, 2004 meeting of the Board of Directors of the Utah Youth Soccer Association, District 5 Chairman Mike Tate reported that League 26 has not had an election for its president in three years. UYSA Bylaw 2:08:02 states that "League Board Members shall be elected . . . for a two (2) year term of office." League 26 is thus overdue for an election of its president. Furthermore, UYSA Bylaw 2:08:02 provides that "[league] elections will be held in either even-numbered or odd-numbered years as established by the Board of Directors." Even-numbered leagues hold elections in even-numbered years. As a result, the time is right for League 26 to conduct an election. District 5 Chairman Mike Tate and Utah Youth Soccer Association Secretary Jodi Wells are expected to attend the meeting to monitor these elections. Eligible voters in this election are "registered coaches, referees, administrators, and parents of players in the League," according to UYSA Bylaw 2:08:02. The meeting is open to the public and eligible voters are encouraged to participate in this process. |
