ODP State Team Pools Announced

Technical Director Greg Maas and ODP Administrator Judy Martin offered thanks to all of the players, parents, coaches, and administrators as well as the slew of volunteers for their efforts during this year's tryouts. "For the third straight year, a record number of players attended ODP tryouts and that speaks volumes about our program and the people involved," Maas said.

Aside from the sheer numbers attending tryouts, other highlights included a scheduled visit by US Soccer National Staff Coach and Olympic Gold Medalist Coach Greg Ryan. "I continue to be impressed with the standard of play in Utah and the organization behind the scenes is absolutely first-class," Ryan noted. Coach Ryan attended tryouts in South Jordan and spent the day working with staff and identifying players.

Player selections were determined by individual technical, tactical, physical and psychological talents. Final selections for this year's state team pools were exceptionally difficult. "I would like to congratulate and thank each player who attended tryouts and am confident that every player found the process to be very challenging and rewarding," Maas noted. Maas also praised the efforts of his coaching staff for their thoroughness and commitment to excellence in selecting this year's state team pools.
