ODP Looks Back on Successful 2002-03 Season

Technical Director Greg Maas and ODP Administrator Gail Ellison have positive memories of the 2002-03 ODP season. The ODP program found success both on and off the field during a year of transition. Ellison recently reported to the Board of Directors that the ODP program made budget for the 2002-2003 ODP seasonal year. "We are extremely proud that ODP finished the year financially in the black," Ellison said. Ellison thanked ODP Treasurer Marlene Plumlee for her efforts this year as ODP's finances became segregated this year from the Association's general treasury. Ellison also offered thanks to all of the team administrators and other volunteers in the program.

Technical Director Greg Maas was similarly pleased with the outstanding performance of the ODP players on the field during the past year. A record thirteen players from Utah were selected by Region and National Staff Coaches for places in the Region pools. In addition, five of these players--Marco Angelo, Megan Ohai, Katie Larkin, Allison Martino and Katy Reineke--were selected to participate at Interregionals this November with the full Region Team and National Pools in their respective age groups. Maas praised these players and also acknowledged the efforts of their teammates. "We are delighted that thirteen players made the Region pool. But some of this success is owed to the dedication of every participant in the program. The standard of play in Utah is rising." Maas also praised the efforts of his coaching staff for its role in player development.
