Coach: Dennis Burrows

Current Team: U-13 Premier and U-17 Premier Sparta Girls; Girls Director for Sparta United.

Coaching Experience: I started coaching my two sons, Scott and Alex, about 14 years ago, and several years later when I started coaching my daughter Miranda, I discovered I really enjoyed coaching girl's soccer. 11 years ago I started as an assistant coach for the 82 ODP girls; I went on to become a head coach for the girls ODP for 6 more years. I have coached a few years as a boys ODP head coach. I became the Girls Director for Sparta United Soccer Club about 5 years ago and have loved every minute of it. I hold the USSF A License and the Premier Diploma from the NSCAA.

Playing Experience: I played through the youth ranks here in Salt Lake, and ended my youth soccer experience playing for Sparta United. I then went on to play in the local adult premier division and coach/ran a team for ten years. I did spend some time with the youth select teams for Utah as well as the adult select team.

Favorite Soccer Teams: Manchester United

Favorite Soccer Players: C. Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Most Memorable Soccer Experiences: Winning the State Cup Championship with the Sparta 89 Premier girl's team. They were a very special team that worked very hard to get to the top. When I started coaching the team they were u-13 and the clubs second team; we had a few hard years, but the girls worked and worked to reach their goals and in 2006 we won 2-1 vs. Rush in the State finals. We went on to make it through to the Quarterfinals of regionals, where we lost in overtime. 18 members of our 89s are now playing college soccer across the United States. I will never forget this very special team.

Coaching Philosophy: Player development is the heart of this great game of soccer; not just the development of the soccer side, but the morals, values and character that can be developed in the player that effects how they carry themselves in life. I strive to provide an atmosphere that allows these very important building blocks to be gained by the players I coach.

Favorite Movie: Victory and anything Monty Python

Favorite Book: Books? I watch kids play soccer games, I watch soccer games on TV, I watch soccer games whenever possible; who has time to read and coach?

Favorite Foods: If it has lots of carbs, cheese, red meat and is totally unhealthy I will like it. Mexican food is my #1 fav.

Special Interests: Family, Music and tinkering with anything that needs assembly.

Dennis Says: "With hard work, dedication, focus, and a bit of self made luck you can set and achieve any goal you set for yourself. Measure your achievements in life not by wins or loses, but by if you worked hard enough to reach your goals."
