Most Memorable Soccer Experience: Captaining Southampton FC to the World Youth Club Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden ('88). Every player on that team went on to play professional soccer. Most recently - watching all of INTER FC's teams play so well at the State Championships and Far West Regionals, and proving that you can win and develop players.
Coaching Philosophy: My emphasis is on player and team development. Focused on young athletes with competitive drive. Success can only come from hard work and the mastering of basic skills. I am not willing to sacrifice player development for short-term wins. I am looking for players who have a passion for soccer and the willingness and discipline to put in the effort to improve the technical and tactical aspects of their game, training both the mind and the body, in a positive environment. My emphasis is on individual growth by integrating cooperation, sportsmanship, leadership, positive coaching and fun through competition in a team concept. I measure success by how players learn to achieve success not only on the field, but in such life skills as hard work, team work, control of emotions and organization.

MJ Says: "Don't mistake winning at the youth level as player development, by doing that you cheat yourselves, the players and the game." "Winning is a by-product of good coaching and no matter what - whether you are a coach or a player... the cream will always rise to the top."
