Coyote Cup: Day 2

Sunrise. Games have already kicked off, it’s a lovely day in Mesquite but as the day rolls on the wind moves in and wants to make its presences known. With a long day of play soon to be complete we have had an exciting day of soccer. With many of our teams playing double-headers, so much heart and passion was felt on each field.

Boys U13

Gold:  Bracket is set for a final – Liverpool FC v HVSC B05 Black Diamond

Highlighted Game: FCM Scorpions vs. MetaSport FC 05. A game packed with no shortage of goals, 7 scored in 60 minutes of play. So much joy and passion was shown during this game, our youngest bracket is always full of excitement and drive to ensure that they leave everything on the field. FCM Scorpions calmed the “W”, 4-3, over MetaSport FC but both teams have a lot of potential for the future based on the amount of skill and team cohesion that was shown today.

Silver: Bound for a showdown in the morning on the journey to the finals.

Highlighted Game: 21 total goals were scored by the silver bracket today. We’re going to focus on the game between HVSC B06 Black Diamond and UDA 05B White. Two very talented clubs met up today on field 1. With the wind making a statement during the time of play, both teams had to figure out how to play with an unstoppable obstacle. Low, fast-paced passes, winning the ball out of the air, and long shots from distance were key. In the end, HVSC came out on top with a resounding win over UDA, 6-1. We’ll know tomorrow where everyone falls in this bracket after semifinal games.

 

Boys U14

Gold – Semis are what we can look forward to tomorrow morning, finals will be set to kick at 5pm Saturday evening.

Highlighted Game: Sparta 04 Premier faced off against AFC Apex 04 White. The sun rose on this early morning match up, with the game being played on a fast surface, we knew it would be a fast-paced game full of heart and energy. Our U14’s didn’t disappoint, with accurate passes from all areas of the field to fighting for positioning on corners. This game ended with a 0-2 defeat for AFC Apex.

Silver – Finals will be known by the end of play tonight. Finals will kick off tomorrow morning at 11:00 am

Highlighted Game: Strikers JS 04 v. Razzia 04B Rebelz. Kickoff time was 9:30 this morning. With both teams having played the afternoon before, both teams winning with a 4-0 advantage over their opponents, was sure to be a good game to watch. In addition to both teams playing yesterday, both Strikers and Razzia also had a double-header today. With an early kickoff, these teams avoided the invasion of the wind at the Sports Complex, leading to clean passes from both teams. After a good hard fought 60 minute, Razzia pulled out the win with a 4-2 advantage over the strikers. Razzia is hoping to find their name in the finals bracket by the end of the night.

Bronze – Finals are already set in the U14 Boys Bronze bracket: Heat FC will play Wasatch SC at 11:00 am for a shot at the Gold.

Highlighted Game: Let’s check out how both teams made their way to our finals tomorrow. Heat F.C. and Wasatch SC both played double-headers earlier today. Wasatch took on Razzia this morning, collecting the win with a 2-0 score sheet. Wasatch had an opportunity to rest for 5 hours before playing Morgan Valley United (L30). 5 hours was enough rest for Wasatch to play well enough against Morgan with a resounding victory, 4-0. Taking a look at how Heat FC’s day shaped up; Heat started their day with an 11 am game against the Rangers of the East. Allowing the Rangers to slip only 1 goal past the Heat keeper to hold on to a win for Heat FC, 3-1. Just as the Wasatch team, Heat FC had a 5-hour break before stepping back onto the field to play Ajax Joga FC. Two must be the Heat’s lucky number because they managed to win by 2 goals against Ajax, 2-0. We’ll see tomorrow who will be crowned champion of the U14 Bronze Bracket.

 

Boys U15

Gold: Finals are set to kick at 1:00 PM between UDA 03 B White and Utah Surf 03 AC

 Highlighted Game: Before we knew who was bound for a finals appearance we had a preview without even knowing it. UDA 03 B White played Utah Surf 03 AC at 11 am on field 4, what a game. Ending in a tie, 2-2, plenty of goals to keep your attention on edge while both teams showing their flare and skill, individually and as a team. No doubt that it’ll be a battle tomorrow afternoon for the rematch on field 4, We’ll see which team will not stand for another tie.

Silver: - We’re still playing games tomorrow to determine our finalists for our silver bracket, kicking off tomorrow at 9:30 am.

Highlighted Game: Utah Glory B03 Black vs. Rampage 03 CA played during our first round of games. Knowing that all goals, for and against matter, this game was a hard-fought battle between the two clubs. With the sun rising over the Complex, these two teams both netted a goal a piece during the 70 minutes of regulation play. Ending in a 1-1 draw, both teams had plenty of good looks at goal and well-connected passes to keep this game exciting and a thrill to watch.

 

Girls U13

Gold: Finals are primed for tomorrows 11 am kick between Liverpool FC and L30 Extreme, it’s a rematch of a game that was already played with a score line in favor of Liverpool, 2-0. We’ll see if L30 Extreme has the answer for the final match up.

Highlighted Game: L30 Extreme G05 vs. MetaSport FC 05G played this morning at 11 am. The wind added a little bit of an additional challenge during this time slot of games but nothing that these two teams couldn’t handle. Trying to avoid playing high flying balls from the back line and taking long shots from different places on the field created an exciting or nerve wrenching half, depending on the direction you were facing. During this well played game, only 1 goal was made in favor of L30 Extreme, boosting L30 above MetaSport FC.

Silver: Finals are locked in for a 1pm start between Celtic East 05 Premier and Utah Storm 05.

Highlighted Game: With 18 goals from the whole bracket tallied from todays action, all of these games would’ve caught your eye as you were walking by. La Roca SF-JK vs. Park City SC G05 Red is our highlighted game of the day. With a northern Utah showdown, these two teams were ready to show what they had on the field. With a kick off at 6:30, the wind was a steady reminder of how important possession paired with accurate clearances from the defensive third would be. La Roca was able to get two shots on goal that would find their way to the back of the net.                 

 

Girls U14

Gold: Finals are set for an interclub showdown between two Wasatch Elite teams, Wasatch Elite 04G – MP will take on their sister team, Wasatch Elite 04G – CS. These two teams have already faced each other on the opening night of play. This will be a game to watch!

Highlighted Game: Wasatch Elite 04G – CS, the ultimate number 1 seat in the bracket, took on CCFC Lightning Bolts to start all the excitement in the U14 Gold bracket for the day. With 7 total goals made during the duration of this game, there wasn’t a moment to walk away to use the restroom just in case you missed another goal. Wasatch Elite pulled away with a 5-2 win over the Lightning Bolts but don’t let the score line foul you, the pure drive to keep their advancement hopes alive was felt by both teams.  

Silver: Semis are still on the docket for tomorrow for of silver bracket. We’ll know who moves on to finals by lunch.

Highlighted Game: Galaxy Elite vs. Ajax Joga FC. With Galaxy Elite currently sitting a top of their bracket, they reached this point by defeating Ajax Joga this afternoon in a tight game, 1-0. Giving Galaxy Elite all 3 points during the match up, we’ll see how this whole bracket shakes out tomorrow.

 

Girls U15

Gold: Semifinals are fast approaching for this bracket, kicking off tomorrow morning at 8am

Highlighted Game: A pretty evenly matched bracket, a Crush matchup is our highlighted game of the day. FCM Crush vs. SWAT Crush met this afternoon on field 2 to see who’d come out on top during this Crush showdown. With the wind showing to be an obstacle for both teams, this game became a battle of patience and smart moves. This showdown proved to be a good one, ending with a draw, 1-1. I guess we won’t know who is truly the top Crush of Utah.

Silver: Finals are locked and loaded, L30 XBOX S.C. vs. Celtic East at 1pm.

Highlighted Game: L30 XBOX S.C. G03 faced off against Utah Surf Davis during a late-night game under the lights. L30 XBOX showed their dominance with a resounding 5-1 win over Utah Surf, we’ll see how XBOX will fair tomorrow in the final match up of the tournament.

 

Girls U16/17: We’re still in group play during the morning hours, finals will be set by lunch and ready to kick by 3pm.

Highlighted Game: Liverpool F.C. played Utah Celtic FC in a dinner time match up at the Complex. A battle between two very good teams led to a 1-1 draw in tournament play. Both teams had some pretty good looks at goal and threatening set pieces. With a draw, both teams are more aware of the need for points tomorrow to advance.

 

Girls U18/19: With games that still need to be played, we won’t know who’ll be fighting for ultimate supremacy in our oldest age group.

Highlighted Game: Avalanche 01/00 White played Murray S.C. Black in an early morning match up. With the weather not being a worry, this game was a matter of skill and patience. Murray S.C. took control early in this game, controlling the tempo and pace of play. Ending the game with a 5-1 lead over Avalanche. Avalanche will have a chance to improve their previous outcome with a game tomorrow.
