The first night of the 2018 RSL Presidents Cup couldn't have been better, the weather was perfect and the soccer was amazing. This year's rendition of UYSA's largest tournament begins with the U13-U18 Boys. 109 teams are competing for the right to win Utah's President Cup. Presidents Cup is a regional and national qualifying tournament. The winners of each states Presidents Cup will compete at the regional Presidents Cup, being held this year in beautiful Salt Lake City this Summer.
UYSA is proud to partner with Real Salt Lake on this tournament and be sure to check our nightly recaps for stories, scores, and pictures of each day's actions.
The 5 games of the U13 boys had both blow outs and nail-biters. The Sparta 05 JH team looks to be the real deal after scoring 7 in their first game. In the closest game of the night Liverpool F.C. 05B Red DA beat Blast 05 2-1. Liverpool also won their other game in the age today with a 4-2 victory over SWAT.
Expect a busy day tomorrow with 13 games.
A lot of tight games in the U14 games this evening, including a 1-1 draw for Idaho’s Madison United, making their first appearance in the tournament. On the other hand, VKCOBRAS 2004 Nava scored 7 in a comprehensive victory of Shooters.
As tight as the U14 Boys were, the U15 was lopsided. Several teams won by 5 or more goals including, Guerrero FC 03, Liverpool F.C. 03B SG, USA Elite 03B DN. 22 more games will be played tomorrow as the tournament kicks off in full swing.
Only two U16 games this evening a 3-0 victory for NUU CV United 02 vs USA Premier 02B DN and a 1-0 for Utah Valley United Select Black 02B (WM) against Stars United FC Internacional 02. Rest of the teams kick off tomorrow.
In what appears to be a very close division, all 6 games were decided by 3 goals or less, 2001 Xolos PDP AM and Liverpool F.C. 01B SG look to be sitting pretty by scoring the most amount of goals in a game, 3, and allowing the least, 0 as they beat USA Elite and Sparta 01 respectively.
No games played tonight.
