Local UYSA Coach & Players to Represent Team USA--But They Need Your Help

By: Carla Swensen-Haslam

BYU Men’s Soccer and Former Utah TOSH State Select coach, Brandon Gilliam, has been selected to coach Team USA at the 29th World University Games in Taipan, Taiwan this summer.  Along with coach Gilliam, several local UYSA Alumnis will be joining Team USA. These players include Jake Miles (Rangers) Jacob Buhler (Rangers), Chris Tobler (Rangers), Payden Pemberton (Rangers), Cameron Mcluaghlin (La Roca), Seth Fankhauser (Sparta), Taylor Fankhauser (Sparta), Connor Fordham (Sparta), Tayler Watkins (Arsenal), and Junior Lartey (Arsenal). This will be the first appearance at the games for Gilliam and his players. This is also the first time a US Men’s Soccer team will compete in the World Games in over 20 years.

While representing their country, state, and club will be an opportunity of a life-time, the team will not be able to compete without your help. In order to participate, the team will have to fund the trip themselves. They are looking for the support of former teammates, coaches, and UYSA alumni members in pursuing the World University Games.  Below is attached the RallyMe, a fundraising account titled, "Send Team USA to Taiwan." There you will be able to donate to the team, or under individual players. Every penny counts!
