Utah Youth Soccer Launches Online Coaching Education Platform
As the largest youth sports organization in the country, US Youth Soccer has created an online coaching education platform to enhance the experience and opportunities of US Youth Soccer players, coaches and parents. As one of the first State Associations to adopt the platform, Utah Youth Soccer is able to effectively train coaches, no matter location, at their own pace and convenience.
The first courses available via the online education platform include an introductory course to concussions, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; a course for parents getting into youth soccer for the first time; and, most notably, the Under-6/Under-8 Youth Module coaching course. The Youth Module course provides coaches in Utah resources to learn the game and bring that knowledge to their players.
“One of US Youth Soccer’s greatest strengths is its ability to reach every child in every part of the country,” said US Youth Soccer Coaching Director Sam Snow. “We worked to develop this online education platform to help coaches in every part of the country bring out the game in their players. They can take the theory portion of these coaching courses online and continue that education with practical, on-field training.”
The platform features read-at-your-own-pace pages, video and document downloads. Additional curriculum will be added as the platform expands to further meet the educational needs of all members of the youth soccer community.
“I am very excited to launch US Youth Soccer’s new online education platform. Many of our coaches are volunteers and often balance their coaching responsibilities with careers and families. The online education platform gives these coaches the needed flexibility and access to quality coaching education in the comfort of their homes and on-field sessions with our state instructors,” said Utah Youth Soccer Technical Director Greg Maas.
Any member of the Utah Youth Soccer community can register for free, create an online education account and participate in the courses.
