U15 Boys Update: Arsenal (UT) 1 vs. FC Barcelona (CS) 3 Another 7:00 a.m. match for Arsenal proved to be quite a challenge facing off with a top 5 nationaly ranked team in FC Barcelona. The possession and shots on goal were heavily weighted in favor of FC Barcelona for most of the match. With some great goal keeping, Arsenal ended the first half down only 2-0. Arsenal finally settled in midway through the second half and volleyed one into the net to challenge. FC Barcelona proved too much for Arsenal ending in a 3-1 victory. Arsenal moves on to the quarterfinals as the second seed from pool B.

Arsenal (UT) 2 vs. Cheyenne Sting (WY) 0 In the 105 degree heat at midday, Arsenal squared off against Wyoming’s best, the Cheyenne Sting. Arsenal created several great scoring opportunities early but had trouble finishing. Just before halftime, Arsenal capitalized on a corner kick with a header that found the net. Things heated up in the second half with Arsenal controlling the ball in the attacking third for most of the second half, but only able to score one more time before the end of the match. The 2-0 victory sealed Arsenal’s spot in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Arsenal (UT) 4 vs. Impact Black (UT) 2 U15 Boys draw saw both Utah teams facing off in the first round – a rematch of the state cup final. Arsenal scored first with Impact evening the match by halftime with a score of 1-1. Both teams battled hard in second half with quality scoring opportunities, but it was Arsenal that was able to put three more balls into the back of the net to Impact’s one, ending in a 4-2 victory for Arsenal.
