Welcome to Hawaii
Far West Regional Championships start with an evening of "Aloha" as the sun sets over Waikiki. All teams and families gathered on the slopes of Diamond Head for the opening of the games. The National Anthem was creatively played on the ukulele by Jake Shimabukura. Greetings were given by Major Jeremy Harris, Darl Rose (Region IV Director), and Scott Keopuhiwa (HYSA President).
Tonight all are champions, tomorrow the "volcanoes" will erupt in fierce competition. But for tonight, players from throughout the west came together in the spirit of aloha to enjoy a polynesian extravaganza complete with food booths, game booths, arts and crafts, and of course, "rock and roll".
