Avalanche 2 vs LOSC Raindevils 0
Avalanche dominated the game with aggressive play and speed unmatched by Oregon. This resulted in several excellent chances by Rebecca Riddle, Kara Vitacca, and Erin Salmon as a result of two passes from Jessie Baddley and Carly Kallas. Finally a rocket free kick from Syd Porter from 20 yards out hit the corner of the net untouched by the keeper putting Avalanche up 1-0 at half. After no shots in the 1st half, Oregon came out in the 2nd half more agressive with two off-side calls keeping them from near breakaways. Avalanche responded with physical play, receiving two yellow cards and frustrating Oregon. Porter sent a long pass over the top to a breaking Rebecca Riddle, but the shot was blocked by the Oregon keeper. Porter had two more chances to score on free kicks from 25 yards out--one skimming over the top and the other placed perfectly for a high-jumping Marli Martin header to the back of the net. Oregon came right back with a hard shot off the top bar and another just over the top. Avalanche quickly gained control to hold possession and send dangerous through balls to Riddle giving her several additional chances to score.
Avalanche 4 vs FC West Spirit 1
Avalanche started the game by putting New Mexico under a lot of pressure. They had a lot of shots including several breakaways by Rebecca Riddle. Alyssa Anglin did a good job of winning ball and distributing out of midfield. In the 34th minute a good pass by Anglin sent Riddle in on goal alone and her shot banged off the cross bar. The follow up shot was hit over the top of the goal. The half ended 0-0.
The 2nd half started similar to the 1st. New Mexico was held to quick counter attacks as their only offense. New Mexico's first good chance to score came in the 55th minute with a shot just over the goal. A few minutes later Erin Salmon beat three players on the left side and broke into the box but the keeper made the save. In the 63rd minute New Mexico scored on a goal from the top of the arc. Avalanche immediately came back attacking hard and scored three minutes later on a break away by Riddle. Soon after, Utah went ahead on a great header by Alyssa Anglin--the cross came from the right side by Erin Salmon. Five minutes later Utah scored again on a great individual run by Carly Kallas down the middle beating four players. Utah went on to add another goal near the end of the game on a shot by Erin Fuller with an assist by Kallas.
Avalanche 4 vs Colorado Rush 2
Utah scored in the first minutes of the game on a breakaway by Kara Vitacca. The 2nd goal didn't come until the 37th minute when Syd Porter hit a long free kick into the box. The ball bounced in front of the goalkeeper and on a challenge by Riddle the ball fell to Erin Salmon who placed it into the goal. Avalanche led 2-0 at half time.
Colorado scored in the first minute of the 2nd half on a long shot over the goalkeeper. Rush had a lot of possession to start the half with a few long shots and several corner kicks. Avalanche used their great attacking speed to create several chances. In the 59th minute a great ball by Riddle put Salmon in on goal but the goalkeeper took it off the foot. A few minutes later, Riddle was wide open 16 yards from goal but miss hit the ball wide of goal. Avalanche scored their third goal 70 minutes into the game on a breakaway by Riddle. Three minutes later Erin Salmon scored their fourth goal on another breakaway. With just a few minutes remaining in the game Colorado scored on a header, but that was as close as they could get.
