This was Sparta 97 Blue's first time participating in State Cup in the youngest age division in the tournament. The Far West Regional Championships start at age U12 so Sparta 97 Blue will not be participating.

Match Recap

The first half of the match was back and forth with Sparta outshooting USA Red 97 Premier about 7-2. The first half ended without any goals being scored. In the 45th minute a Sparta player was fouled in the box and Sparta was awarded a penalty kick. Brett Smith hit the ball low and to the right, not giving the goalkeeper a chance to get to it. USA created some scoring opportunities in the 2nd half but William Desantis, Sparta's goalkeeper had a couple of good saves. Sparta's defense held strong for a 1-0 win.
