Utah Rush Nike 94 (3) vs Sparta 94 Premier (3) (Shootout 4-3) Utah Rush Coach: Eric Landon

This was Utah Rush Nike 94's first time in the State Cup winner's circle. They are honored to be the first team to win the State Cup Championship representing Utah Rush.

Match Recap

The first goal was score at about the 5th minute on a fast- break chipped over the keeper by Devin Farnes. Kudos go to Joe Charbries for a great assist. The next goal was scored by Sparta on a long shot by Julio Morelas. At about the 45th minute Erick Christensen of Rush crossed the ball in front of the goal. It bounced around and then Greg Howard got his foot on it and put it in the back of the net. Sparta's 2nd goal was made off a set play. Sparta crossed the ball to the front from a corner kick, Rush's goalkeeper puched the ball out but Julio Morelas got his head on it for the goal.

At the end of regulation time the match was tied 2-2 sending it to overtime. Sparta scored the first over-time goal in the first 2 minutes by a cross from outside the box and finished by Nicholas Morelos. Within 3 minutes of Sparta's goal, a Rush corner kick was deflected by Sparta's keeper and Joe Charbries headed it into the goal. No goals were scored in the 2nd overtime sending the match to kicks from the mark. Sparta started the kicks. After the 4th rotation, Sparta had 3 and Rush had 4 . Sparta's 5th kicker new it was do or die. He stepped up to the mark and gave it his best but the Rush goalkeeper blocked the kick sending the Rush players and fans into a celebration frenzy.
