Final Pairings Set for Championships Showdowns

On the Boys side of the Cup, U11 Fire FC coached by Mark Hunt made history Thursday evening by becoming the first team from Southern Utah to advance to a State Cup Championship game. Fire FC will look to continue their historic run as they face La Roca Premier HW at noon on Saturday. The other two boy’s matchups will feature the Utah Rangers in both the U12 & U13 divisions as they take on Sparta United and Inter FC.

The Girl’s side of the tournament will feature a La Roca vs. Celtic Storm match up in the U11, U14, and U15 age groups, while Sparta United will face off against teams from Forza FC in both the U17 & U18 groups. The U12, U13, & U16 age groups will feature teams representing La Roca, Celtic Storm, Sparta United, and Utah FC.

La Roca will lead the field Saturday with 6 teams vying for State Cup championships with Sparta United bringing 5 teams of their own to the table. Celtic Storm is making its own run this year as they will have 4 teams challenging for titles, while Forza FC & Utah Rangers will each have 2 teams a piece in contention. Fire FC, Utah FC, & Inter FC will respectfully each have one team competing in the dance.

The Finals will begin on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 9:00am. All games will be played at the Lakeside Sports Complex in Orem, UT. Champions and Finalist will be honored immediately after their matches at the awards grand stand located near tournament HQ’s. State Champion players and coaches will also be honored at halftime by Real Salt Lake on June 1, 2013 as RSL takes on the San Jose Earthquakes at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The U14-U18 boys divisions were played last October 2013 with champions advancing to FWR’s next month.
