Claret-and-Cobalt Sponsor Utah’s Premier Youth Soccer Tournament

SANDY, Utah (Friday, March 15, 2013) – Real Salt Lake has partnered with the Utah Youth Soccer Association to sponsor the RSL State Cup.

Previously known as the Utah State Cup, the RSL State Cup is the premier youth soccer tournament in Utah. With over 3,000 participants representing 200 teams in a fall and spring series, the tournament offers a special environment for Utah’s elite soccer teams and athletes. RSL State Cup champions qualify for the U.S. Youth Soccer regional championships (Far West Regional), which is held in June of each year. The Far West Regional winners qualify for the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships that are held in July of each year.

"The RSL State Cup is the top youth soccer tournament in Utah and we’re excited to be the title sponsor for it,” Real Salt Lake President Bill Manning said. “RSL has always been committed to growing the game at all levels in our state and we think that this partnership with UYSA for the RSL State Cup will do just that.”

Real Salt Lake owner Dell Loy Hansen will unveil the new RSL State Cup logo at the UYSA Awards Gala at the Provo Downtown Marriott at 7:00 p.m. MT on Friday night.

The logo and the partnership will be formally unveiled at the UYSA Soccerfest & Annual General Meeting at the Utah Valley Convention Center on Saturday. UYSA CEO Drew Hiatt, UYSA President Cindy Baron, UYSA Event Management Director Morgan Gilliam and RSL Group Sales Director Scott Reynolds will be available for comment at 11:00 a.m. MT on Saturday at the Provo Downtown Marriott.

Real Salt Lake will open its 2013 home schedule at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. MT, when it will take on Rocky Mountain Cup Presented by Mark Miller Subaru rivals the Colorado Rapids in MLS regular season action.
