Sport Nutrition

TOSH Sports Nutrition Services: B.E.S.T. Youth Sport Nutrition Clinics strive to educate young athletes on the nutritional requirements of sport, growth and development.  Participants will walk away with practical information that they will be able to apply to their sport(s).  Sport Nutrition topics include fueling pre- and post-training/competition, recovery, tournament nutrition, hydration, and practical information about carbohydrate, protein and fat.  In the basic clinic all of these topics are touched upon within the allotted time, however greater depth into specific topics may be requested given the specific needs of the team/group.  Upon request, time may be allotted to practical, hands on skill building in the Athletes’ Kitchen (teaching kitchen at TOSH).  Examples of kitchen experience include making energy bars, sport drink, recovery smoothies, or travel packs. The goal is always to promote a supportive learning environment that promotes a positive body image, is non-intimidating, and most of all…Fun!

B.E.S.T. Youth Sport Nutrition Clinics are free for youth under 18 years of age, can be hosted on the TOSH Campus or at a team facility.  Clinics last approximately 45 minutes with about 15 minutes for question and answer, and parents are always encouraged to attend.

Individual counseling services are also available at TOSH. The 2 sport dietitians on staff specialize in nutritional requirements for the athlete as well as for individuals with other medical concerns.
