Respect the Call: Referee Abuse Prevention Policy

U.S. Soccer’s Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (effective March 2025) enforces strict penalties for misconduct against referees. Physical assault, threats, and verbal abuse will result in suspensions or lifetime bans. All players, coaches, and spectators must uphold respect and sportsmanship to protect the integrity of the game. Violations are subject to U.S. Soccer’s Penalties Matrix. Support our referees—help keep soccer fair and safe.
