Steps to become a Coach with UYSA
Any perspective coach must contact the club registrar for information regarding registration to a team.
Registration will include the follow:
- A link to register (every club has their own link to register with them – must be sent by the registrar)
- Information on Safe Sport Training – a completed certificate yearly is required (free) the link will be sent out by the regsitrar of the club
- Information on Concussion Training – required yearly – training courses are on the UYSA website under coaches – you can complete the Head ups or NFHS.
Once you are registered with your club you will need a US Soccer Federation coaching license to appear on the roster of the team:
- Utah requires all coaches on the roster to attend and pass 2 in person Grassroots courses (or equivalent)
- Premier Team Head Coaches must have a USSF National D License.
- Please go to https://learning.ussoccer.com/ and create a free account with U.S. Soccer
- All incoming coaches must complete the FREE Introductory course before regsitering for any U.S.Soccer courses.
- Once your account is created, click Available Course, Introductory is the last course in the menu (left side)

- Add license information if it is not showing in your account
- The state that granted your license will need to add and verify it, If you received an E or National D license in UTAH please email jbreckenridge@uysa.org to add and verify.
- Once verified you can download and print a copy anytime you want

The Future Game
Understanding trends of today to support the player of tomorrow
As coaches, how aware are we of elite trends from the modern game? More importantly, how adept are we at translating these trends into our own environment? What does this mean for me and my players, and what type of game are they expecting to move into?
How does this affect the practices I deliver, and what tools or skillsets will my players need to be equipped with for the game of tomorrow?
Aligning game models, practice objectives, coaching styles and learning outcomes to the game of today, with an eye on the future.
Workshop Focus
Session One: Introduction into the ‘Game of Tomorrow’ – FIFA World Cup Insights, Analysis and the Development of Modern Trends.
Session Two: Player Capabilities v Coach Values – Finding the balance between your own beliefs, player attributes and aligning towards the game of tomorrow.
Session Three:Three: Identifying Practical Solutions – What do these insights mean for me, and how do we then deliver meaningful practical sessions to support the players of tomorrow.

FCE Course

DESIGNING FOOTBALL TRAINING
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2025
In this 1-day course, Raymond Verheijen will present to you the new concept of simplifying 11v11 to design realistic training situations with the same spaces and distances like in the real game. Even more, Raymond will demonstrate how you can use different methodologies to overload either the tactical, game insight, technical or fitness component in realistic simplified training situations. He will use game and training clips to illustrate the new training methodology.
