May 7, 2008 District 5 On-line Registration Meeting Big Success!
Utah Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce that in route to moving toward State wide on-line registration we are making positive strides. Tuesday night, nearly 35 people from District 5 gathered at Utah County's Timpanogos High School to be trained and discuss how to successfully use on-line registration. Cindy Henderson has done a remarkable job configuring each league/clubs personal registration site and is continually doing what she can to make the process even better. We would like to thank all of those who attended Tuesday night's meeting and would encourage all Districts to get involved with on-line registration. May 5, 2008 The Role of New Regions Discussed By The UYSA Constitutional Convention Consensus Reached By Delegates Representing 5 of 7 Current Districts
Next Convention Meeting on Saturday, June 7th at 9:30 AM
On Friday, May 2nd, the UYSA Constitutional Convention continued its task of designing a new governing structure for the Utah Youth Soccer Association. The main focus of this session was on the role of geographic subdivisions of the State Association. In previous meetings, the Constitutional Convention concluded that member organizations (a term encompassing leagues and clubs under the current system) should be the basic membership unit for the Association. Member organizations would be responsible for registering players and providing soccer programming for players. The State Association, in turn, would be responsible for supervising the registration process, obtaining insurance, overseeing risk management, and administrating state-wide programs such as the State Competition League, the Olympic Development Program, TOPSoccer, and the Coaching Education Program.
The Constitutional Convention focused its attention last Friday on the subject of regions within the State Association. First, the Convention affirmed its previous plan to divide the state into six regions. The boundaries for these regions would not be permanently fixed; rather, the regions would contain roughly equivalent player populations (to ensure fair representation) and would be periodically adjusted by the Board of Directors to respond to fluctuations in player populaces. April 30, 2008 Update from the UYSA Constitutional Convention
Next Convention Meeting on Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 PM
At its most recent meeting, UYSA's Constitutional Convention continued its work on the task of designing a new governing structure to carry the Association into the future. The Convention affirmed that the basic organizational unit would be the member organization (a term encompassing leagues and clubs). Member organizations would be the agent of player registration, and would be vested with 100% of the voting power at the State Council level.
The Constitutional Convention also revisited the organization of the Board of Directors, and decided to move forward with a slightly different proposal. Instead of having six directors elected from three geographic regions, the Convention decided to propose that six directors be elected from six geographic regions. These geographic regions would not be permanently established; rather, these regions would consist of roughly equivalent player populations and could be adjusted periodically to maintain an appropriate population balance. The goal is to balance the demands of geographic representation with voting equity.
Accordingly, the Constitutional Convention is currently proposing the following structure for the Association's Board of Directors, which would consist of the following eleven members: More...

March 25, 2008 Announcing New Risk Management Page
Risk Management is a job that never ends. It is Disclosure Forms and Background Checks – making every effort to provide a safe environment for every player. But, it is also protecting coaches, administrators, parents and spectators. Risk Management is everything from goal safety to fiscal responsibility.
Education is our most important tool. You are encouraged to use the items on the two new pages (1) Risk Management Handouts and (2) Risk Management Presentations as you educate your players, parents, coaches, and administrators. If you have any questions or topics you’d like to see included on this page, please contact Debbie Haycock at debbiesgang@comcast.net or call the UYSA office.
