UYSA’s process for this proposed policy change followed normal procedure including circulation to affected members, review and feedback from UYSA committees, as well as gathering additional information and having good faith communication with other US Soccer-affiliated parties who may be affected. After having discussions with US Soccer-affiliated parties who are not also members of UYSA and receiving certain concessions and commitments from them, it appears that the Individual or Organizational Members of UYSA are now in the best position, through their respective participation and attendance policies and agreements with their members, to address their specific concerns that prompted this proposed policy change. As such, the Board has decided at this point in time to table any proposed changes to policy 6316. The item will be removed from the agenda and there will be no discussion or vote as to policy 6316 at the upcoming May 16, 2024, board meeting. With tryouts and registration rapidly approaching, Individual or Organizational Members may want to assess what, if any, action they feel is needed to address these concerns using their policies and agreements.
We appreciate our committees’ and membership’s feedback during this discussion. As with all policy discussions, this process is vital in crafting, validating and fine tuning the direction of the association and proposed policies.
